When looking for a job, everyone has things that they search for. Common things include salaries, benefits, and stability. Web Design & Development is a field that will exceed your expectations for some of these common things. Not only is it a high paying and reliable job, it’s a flexible field that comes with many opportunities and benefits. The jobs aren’t going away anytime soon and it isn’t something that’s extremely hard to get into. There’s still time to get into the field, and I have 4 reasons on why you should consider it.
#1 Technology is constantly growing, & you’ll grow with it.
Technology is growing more and more every single day. Things that people could only dream of are becoming reality. A prime example of this is Artificial Intelligence (AI). I mean, I see it everywhere now. They even have AI Robots sitting on Tik Tok live! This is crazy, especially since I feel like it wasn’t too long ago that I barely even heard about AI.
This ties back to the Web field. It’s a technology field, so naturally you’ll become more and more advanced with technology. You’ll probably know more about it than the average person as well. It may even be things that haven’t gone public yet. Basically, this field keeps you in the loop. Technology is something that’s a huge part of society, and it’s only expanding. Wouldn’t you want to know something about this? It’s a part of our daily life, but how often do we really think about its impact on us? For something that’s becoming this significant, it would be beneficial to know what you can about it. So, as technology is growing, your knowledge will grow along with it. That sounds pretty good to me.
#2 Job Projection / Growing Web Development Industry
This is where stability comes into play. You’ll want a job that is reliable, and a field that isn’t dying. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the “Overall employment of web developers and digital designers is projected to grow 23 percent from 2021 to 2031, much faster than the average for all occupations.” In other words, the Web development and design field isn’t dying anytime soon. As a result, that makes it a great field to pursue. You won’t have to worry about not being able to find a job. You also won’t have to worry about keeping a job, because the Web field will be around for a long time.
#3 Flexibility
Personally, I like to travel. If I had the option to travel while working, I would absolutely take it. Luckily, the web field makes this possible. I actually have a family member who’s working for a popular web building company while living in a whole different continent!
Besides hobbies, being able to work outside of an office allows time for yourself, family, and whatever else you want to do. As said by CareerFoundry.com, “If there’s one thing you’ll get from becoming a web developer, it’s flexibility.”
#4 Salaries – Web Development & Web Design
Finally, the question you’ve been waiting to get answered. What’s the money like? You were probably thinking, “Yes, the field sounds great, but how’s the pay?” As I vaguely said before, “it is a potentially high paying and reliable job”. Let’s go into detail. Based on Indeed.com, the US national salary is about $55,640. Multiple sites show that the average web developer salary ranges from about $70,000-$81,000. That’s well above the average salary. Then, after a few years of experience, your salary can skyrocket in this field. Many web developers are making well over $100,000 and that’s without us specifying the types of developers. As for a web designer, the salary is lower, but with experience it can grow as well. In another blog I’ve talked about ethical hacking, which is another career within web that pays well.
In conclusion…
The Web Design & Development field is great to pursue. It is reliable, flexible, beneficial, stable, and high-paying. It has a lot of the qualities that people commonly look for in jobs. It isn’t hard to get into either, so consider trying it out! There’s many more jobs within the field of web that I didn’t mention, such as Frontend and Backend Developers as well. Hopefully, you’ll be able to find something that fits you.
